A tender perennial native to southern Europe, Mediterranean and Portugal. A “cousin” to oregano in uses. Grows 12-24” tall and blooms with delicate white flowers, sometimes lavendar, in mid-late summer. Great companion to garlic chives, sage, rosemary, and chamomile.
MEDICINAL BENEFITS & USES — Very supportive of the digestive tract and also has anti-septic properties. Use as tinctures, infusion, skin and foot wash, and honey.
SAFETY CONCERNS — Considered to be a safe herb. People with known allergic reaction to mint, sage, basil and thyme, which are all plants that belong to mint family, should not use in any form.
