Cherokee Purple Tomato (Certified Organic)
$3.00
Certified Organic Seed. One of the first “Black” tomatoes to grow in popularity. Rumored to have been handed down by the Cherokee Indians in the late 1800’s. This indeterminate variety can grow up to 9′ tall and produce up to 1 lb fruits. Its beefsteak style shape is eye catching, when ripe, with its dusky, dark red sides and deep, dark green shoulders. The sweet, meaty interior is complimented nicely with a tangy gel that explodes with rich, intense, smoky flavor! Perfect for a BLT sandwich, salad topper, or sliced fresh for eating. It can also be canned, dried, or used in salsa with fair results. Resists Fusarium Wilt but tends to crack around stem from too much water and develops blossom end rot if left on plant to long. Harvest with green shoulders using the “touch” ripe method.
