The most common short day – Vidalia-style -Texas onion grown, which has won multiple national awards for its mild sweetness. With its Spanish ancestry, this exceptional flavored onion regularly produces colossal, grapefruit sized, super sweet onions that top the scale around 1 lb. It is yellow skinned/white fleshed, pink root tolerant, and very productive with a 2-4 month shelf life. For spring harvests, plant around Oct. 15 (hence its name) in the south. For super sweet onions, do not add or use any products containing sulfur to the soil.
