Tar Heel Pole Bean
$3.50
This pole bean heirloom was sent to us by the descendants of the Estes and Schults families from the Washington Cascade foothills. Their ancestors had brought it from North Carolina in the 1800’s. These vigorous climbers will need to be trellised in some manner! The 4-5” long pods are thin skinned and rich in that heirloom “beany” flavor! They are best picked at 3′ in length and will most likely need to be de-stringed for best tabletop results! Pods are tender and will absorb flavors. So don’t hesitate to add that bacon grease and onions for that “ southern country style” taste treat! Seed stock grown by WHSC for 2024. Limited Supply.
