Christmas Pole Lima Bean
$3.50
One of the finest “old time butter beans”! A pole climbing variety, from the 1840’s, that can grow up to 10′ tall. The prolific white blooms turn into a bountiful harvest of maroon & cream-colored beans that are flat, broad, and the size of your thumbnail. Their flavor has been described as “chestnut-like”, “nutty”, and “rich” with texture, being “firm” and “buttery”. Productive pods produce 2-3 beans each, even in intense heat climates. Use as green shelled or dry bean. If dry beans are desired, allow bean pods to dry on vine and break open to harvest. Bears up to frost.
