The favorite, reliable, standard lima bean served at the dinner table since the 1940's. This lima is preferred by gardeners for its heavy production in drought and heat conditions, as well as its versatility in being grown in Northern and Coastal climates. These 16-18” tall, bush-style plants have dense foliage and are effortless to grow. The 3-4” pods, which are easy to shell, are filled with 3-5 large, white/pale green, plump seeds that are full of that flavor you crave in “butter beans”. A great canner/freezer/fresh-eating variety that retains its flavor when processed. Needs minimum soil temperature of 75 degrees ºF for best germination results.

One of the finest “old time butter beans”! A pole climbing variety, from the 1840's, that can grow up to 10' tall. The prolific white blooms turn into a bountiful harvest of maroon & cream-colored beans that are flat, broad, and the size of your thumbnail. Their flavor has been described as “chestnut-like”, “nutty”, and “rich” with texture, being “firm” and “buttery”. Productive pods produce 2-3 beans each, even in intense heat climates. Use as green shelled or dry bean. If dry beans are desired, allow bean pods to dry on vine and break open to harvest. Bears up to frost.
