An “easy-to- grow”, 80 year old variety that traces its roots to its Swedish turnip/cabbage relatives. The large, yellow, globe-shaped roots have purple shoulders when mature at 4-6” diameters. Flesh is fine grained, sweet, and turns bright orange when cooked. Plant tops grow up to 24” tall. Winter storage capability of up to 4-6 months. Plant a minimum of 3 months before 1st fall frost and keep soil moist, if possible. Hot weather at root development stage will cause loss of sweetness and flavor, so plan and plant accordingly.
